Robert Alt is a Fellow in Legal and International Affairs at The John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University, where he writes on issues of constitutional law and public policy. Currently, he is in Iraq reporting for the Ashbrook Center on the drafting of the new Iraqi Constitution as well as the overall situation in that country post-Hussein.

In addition, Mr. Alt owns a political consulting firm, representing clients in local, state, and congressional races. He held the position of Deputy Congressional Liaison for The Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., where he briefed Congressional members and staffs on policy issues, and advised experts on the Hill and elsewhere regarding constitutional issues. Mr. Alt was Director of Public Relations and Education for the Center for Individual Rights, a leading public-interest law firm. Before entering the public policy arena in the nation’s capital, Mr. Alt worked for the California Assembly, where he provided analysis of pending legislation. He has served as a researcher for retired Judge Robert H. Bork and as a research assistant for Richard Epstein. He received his J.D. from the University of Chicago, and his B.A. from Azusa Pacific University.
